Touch Rugby started in Australia in the early 1960s as a social game and a training and warm-up technique for rugby league.
The first official Touch Tournament was held in Sydney in 1968 and then spread to New Zealand.
From there the game has expanded rapidly, especially in the South Pacific and now all around the world and especially in Europe. Touch Rugby now exists as a sport in its own right, with the Federation of Internation Touch as the recognized Governing Body of the sport worldwide.

TOUCH RUGBY
LEAGUES & EVENTS
London Hawks have teamed up with England Touch to provide Touch Rugby Leagues and tournaments at elite level in London and the South East and be part of an UK-wide network of England Touch leagues, making the sport more accessible and competitive for all those who want to play.
For too long, many players, referees and teams have settled for mediocrity and below average standards when it comes to customer experience at touch sporting events and competitions. Many existing touch leagues provide an excellent experience and will continue to do so.
Through the England Touch blueprint we aim to ensure the successes are replicated in London and the South East, delivering an excellent experience with superior competition administration, organisation, referees and ultimately, the game itself.
